The study of international and comparative law is not limited to courses at Emory Law. Students can expand their education by participating in our Career Development Office, which will help you develop a job search strategy and advise you through a range of professional development programs. From day one orientation, LL.M. students are paired with faculty and professional mentors. LL.M. candidates can also participate in the International Student Interview Program (ISIP), an annual consortium event that attracts more than 160 of the world`s leading legal employers. Athens is just 80 miles from Georgia`s capital, Atlanta, a vibrant global city served by the world`s busiest airport. The university`s campus provides access to local, national and international law firms, the Atlanta International Arbitration Society and the many Fortune 500 companies based in Georgia. International law, both public and private, cannot be understood without a working knowledge of comparative politics, history and culture.
By leveraging Emory University`s rich and extensive resources, Emory Law fosters an interdisciplinary and experiential study of international law that prepares you to make a direct impact on the legal world. For more than four decades, the UGA School of Law has trained international lawyers and we are proud of our LL.M. alumni, which include law firm partners and judges, executives from intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, CEOs and heads of corporate counsel, and accomplished academics. The University of Georgia School of Law Graduate Certificate in International Law is a 15-hour university degree for University of Georgia doctoral students who wish to add an internationally oriented legal dimension to their program of study. The field of international law is inherently interdisciplinary, acting as a space in which subject matter experts, policy makers and lawyers must work together to address the great political and legal challenges of our time. This certificate programme provides aspiring subject matter experts and policy makers with the knowledge, skills and capabilities to understand the laws, systems and actors of international law. With our Dean, International Referee Peter B. “Bo” Rutledge, we invite you to apply now to be part of the UGA School of Law`s tradition of preparing for global practice. The Master of Laws (LL.M.) at the University of Georgia School of Law offers foreign law graduates the opportunity to learn about the U.S. legal system, deepen their knowledge in one area, and explore new legal interests at one of the nation`s top law schools.
The ten-month program provides one-on-one support from the Dean Rusk International Law Center and prepares international students for a globalized legal marketplace. The Centre for International and Comparative Law (CICL) creates a dynamic space for scholars and students to explore the interactions between the world`s international and national legal systems, engaging both theory and practice for effective study and promotion of the rule of law. We are planning a series of workshops accessible in person and on Zoom, starting in January 2023. The first four sessions deal with contrasting theories/philosophies of state power and responsibility. We aim for some visiting scholars interested in this topic to come to Emory Law and hope to host a small face-to-face workshop in 2023. We are now accepting applications for the Spring 2023 cohort, which can be completed here. Applications must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. on Friday, October 14. Late applications will not be considered. The certificate requires a total of 15 credit hours, 9 of which must be completed by the law school.
Courses should be completed in 4-5 consecutive academic semesters, although there is no set deadline for completion. All students must take the following: Athens, a popular university city, attracts students of all ages for its world-class musical and cultural events, as well as its unique shops, cafes and restaurants.
